25 Years Of Franchising: Our Franchisees

In 1994, High Touch High Tech sold their first franchise location in Wyckoff Bergen County, New Jersey. Over the course of 25 years we have grown to having 36 franchise locations in 11 countries, with a remarkable, and passionate team of franchisees. Each of our franchisees brings their extraordinary background, experience and skillset and pairs them with High Touch High Tech’s hands-on science mission, creating a fun and exciting learning environment for each student involved. With the help of our magnificent franchisees and partners, over 16 million students participate in a High Touch High Tech program annually. We are so thankful for the franchisees that have share our vision of inspiring students in the STEM fields each day.

We have a diverse team of experiences, backgrounds, skillsets and cultures, but one thing about our franchise team is universal; a love for inspiring students. Science is universal, as is curiosity and drive for discovery in young minds. We dream of being able to reach each and every student with High Touch High Tech’s brand of hand-on science programming, and our array of franchise locations allow that goal to become tangible.

Our franchisees each value STEM education for their own reasons. Radiant Rita of High Touch High Tech of New England believes that utilizing science expands your understanding of the world around you, because everything is science. Tsunami Tommy of High Touch High Tech of Northern New Jersey says that “being able to think in scientific terms allows you to think more clearly and utilize the different parts of your brain.” It’s no secret that there is a gap in science education in schools, and each High Touch High Tech representative works each day to fill that gap to more wholly prepare the next generation of engineers, researchers, developers and mathematicians.

Regardless of background, our franchisees are working tirelessly to inspire and engage young minds. “I love being in the classroom, the kids understand where I’m coming from because I teach with so much passion! I genuinely want their minds to open up to what I’m trying to teach,” said Seashell Shalini of High Touch High Tech of Santa Clara County and South Bay, California.  Miss. A of High Touch High Tech North Florida and Southern Georgia says, “when you hear someone say, ‘Miss. A, this is the best day of my life,’ or ‘Miss. A, I want to be a scientist when I grow up.’ It’s really rewarding because it means we’ve clicked that light switch on.” The purpose of High Touch High Tech is to be a resource to teachers, partnering with them to create a ‘living laboratory’ within their classrooms, leaving our students with a lifelong devotion to learn and love science.

While each franchise location participates in High Touch High Tech’s copyrighted programming, they are each left with autonomy of their business. We do not believe in one size fits all business models, but instead provide the support, tools and the product for each of our franchisees to be successful. Polymer Pat of Western Los Angles County said, “It’s not like a McDonald’s franchise where everything is a square peg in a square hole. I get to be creative in how I implement the programs and the way I run the business. I have the freedom to run things the way I feel is most beneficial to my particular area.” As a franchise we provide a proven successful business model and have resources to optimize each franchise’s progression. “High Touch High Tech has done very well offering support in so many different areas to us [franchisees]. Program development, marketing, and all the support structures we can reach out and tap into are available to us,” said Seashell Shalini. Each of our franchisees have their own High Touch High Tech adventure, and we use each of these experiences to build as a company. Our franchisees are a part of a community and utilize their sister franchises as sources of support and companionship.

Without each of High Touch High Tech’s franchisees we would not have made it to 25 years. Our franchisees make up the backbone of who we are, what we do and illustrate our encouraging future.

Social Media Marketing: Utilizing it as an Effective Tool

The average person uses social media websites for approximately 136 minutes a day, and as the number of social platforms increase so does the time being spent on them. Time spent on social media is greater than time devoted to grooming, eating and drinking, or even in-person social interactions. Using social media as a marketing tool is the most cost effective and resourceful way for a small business to grow their audience, which is why 97% of marketers are using it.

Why social media? Simply put, your customers are there and consuming colossal amounts of content daily.  It’s estimated that 70% of the U.S. population has at least one social media profile, and that there are more than 2.5 billion social media users worldwide. With the boundless number of consumers using social media platforms each day, small businesses are presented an unparalleled marketing avenue. It is necessary to be present and active on the channels that your target audience is using most often. Refusal to affiliate your business with social media pages neglects potential engagements that you could be having with your current and new customers.

Social media is a place where we connect to the world, expand our network, and keep in touch with our friends and family. The users of these platforms aren’t necessarily there with the purpose of being marketed to, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t following the brands they find valuable. Social media outlets allow you to unmask a more personal side of your business, demonstrating your voice on an intimate level, and supports authentic connections. Consumers are overwhelmingly more responsive on social media than they are to traditional, direct marketing messages. Brand recognition and visibility are increased as your content presents your business’ true voice and nature. While the consumer may have never heard of your company before, they are more likely to explore and become better acquainted with your business after noticing you across various social networks.

Another benefit of social media is that it allows you to more specifically target your audience, rather than broadly putting a message out for anyone to see. Targeting your audience will generate higher quality leads, and eventually boost your conversion rates. While not only being a more objective advertising avenue, it’s also more financially worthwhile than conventional advertising. Social media is estimated to be at least 3 times less expensive for paid advertisements than traditional media, but you also have the option of using it entirely free.

By being more active on social media, your search engine exposure increases. Search engine algorithms are alerted by links to social content, shares, likes and comments. The livelier these engagements the better your organic growth and visibility on search engine sites. Your competition can also be found on social media and search engines, so this engagement favors the diligent.

Consumers also use social networking to find recommendations. A survey found that 72% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations! Use customer feedback, positive or negative, to thank them for their support, expose necessary areas of growth, and to boost your glowing reputation! Ask your current customers to leave reviews of their experiences, because 90% of future buyers rely on positive reviews to influence their purchasing decisions!

When executed correctly, social media is an unbeatable device. To feel like you aren’t getting the reciprocation deserved when investing your valuable time and effort is defeating to say the least. Before giving up on social media, ask yourself these questions: Are you posting the right content for your market? Are you posting enough? Are you simply posting at the wrong times? Research the various social media outlets to find the optimal times and days of the week that each platforms’ users are most active!  Know your audience, be persistent, and share content of value regularly! Best of luck in your social media endeavors!

Franchises-When They’re Hot!

Franchises – When They’re Hot

When you’re considering the purchase of a franchise, you want to be sure the one you choose is “hot”. With so many opportunities out there, how do you know what’s hot and what’s not? Let’s take a look at a few indicators that may help you decide to jump into the fire!

Happiness in Numbers

The more the merrier when it comes to the sale of new franchise units. Franchisors are always on the lookout for new franchisees.  New units mean new franchise fees and monthly royalty income for the franchisor. If a franchise concept sees a spike in franchise sales or shows steady growth in the opening of new units, it might be “hot”.

Locations, Locations, Locations

Do you see a franchise on every corner? When you travel, do you see the same franchise every place you go? Lots of locations mean lots of brand visibility and probably heightened consumer awareness of the products and services offered by said brand. If a franchise concept pops up just about everywhere, chances are it’s “hot”.

In the Spotlight

Some franchises get a lot of media attention and publicity; however, the reasons why may vary. Maybe they made a major contribution to a well known charity; or their annual earnings report just went public; or they just signed a major celebrity to their system. Regardless of why they are in the news…..they’re in the news and getting your attention. In your eyes, publicity is good and therefore, a franchise is “hot”.

Although these three reasons can certainly play a major role in determining which franchises are “hot” and ultimately which system you’ll join, there are a myriad of other reasons you may consider before stepping onto the coals!

Equating popularity to profitability is completely normal; however, not always an accurate assessment. Does the franchise concept you’re interested in have the potential of becoming a fad or does it have history and staying power? Is this franchise concept recession-proof; can it withstand and adapt to a fluctuating economy? Does this franchise concept meet a consumer need that you don’t foresee disappearing anytime soon? Are there too many locations nearby for you to really have a chance to be profitable?

All these questions and more are good things to ask before signing on the dotted line. And the great thing about a franchise system is you can ask actual franchisees, the ones who found the answers to their questions and have already taken the risk and are in business.

High Touch High Tech: Inspiring Young Minds Across the Globe

Often, science is a tool that explains the world around us. It teaches children about life and the world we live in. Science tells a story, challenges us and allows us think outside of the box! According to Grace Beckett, the author of “Importance of Learning Science in School”, science teaches children about technology awareness, how to conserve natural resources, and even instills survival skills. It also encourages communication, problem solving, researching, and enables the child to create their own “hypotheses”, demonstrating “trial and error”.

High Touch High Tech brings “hands-on” science programs into schools around the world to ensure that this imperative subject is instructed in a fun and memorable way. Our staff works with various schools and their faculty members to coordinate “in-house” science field-trips to demonstrate how astonishing science really is!  If a first-grade science curriculum requires that the students are to be taught about “Earth Systems” we will come to the school and transform the children into mini-geologists as they sort, test and investigate all that they find.  The scientist/instructor will discuss the Earth’s underground layers and they will even apply pressure to create their own igneous rock. They’ll go on a gem panning expedition and uncover the Earth’s hidden treasures of real gems, rocks and minerals.  It will be a day that the students will never forget!

The Importance of Social Media for Small Business

You’ve probably heard it over and over, how important social media is for your business. Well here are some of the reasons as to why having those social media channels and making time each day to post on those platforms is so important.

Americans spend nearly a quarter of their online time on social networks and blogs. Chances are much of your target market is probably already using social media. If you want to reach clients and prospects, you need to be where they are and by using social media you’ll increase those odds.

Having a dedicated business Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and a host of other social platforms is a guaranteed way to:

  • Increase you brand recognition:  Increased brand recognition can help you generate more prospects and convert them into paying customers. Social media platforms will help boost your business’ visibility with your current customers and even potential prospects down the road. It gives your business a direct way to share it’s brand and content with customers. A customer today expects a business to be highly accessible and easily recognizable online. When they search for a business or product and don’t find information from your business, they’re going to assume your business does not exist and move on.
  • Improves business customer service: Many of today’s consumers flock to social media to seek assistance, ask questions or provide feedback to a brand’s customer service team. Your business will miss those customer conversations if you not engaging on social media. When a customer posts their positive experience with your company, you should share it as a testimonial to all of your followers, and explain how others can benefit from your business.
  • Marketing costs are lower: Traditional marketing such as print or digital ads, postcard mailers, etc can be very expensive for a new or smaller business at the start. While those tools are still important for your business, it is important to incorporate lower-cost social media marketing. This can stretch your marketing budget substantially. Having your best customer post to their Facebook account about the great service they received from your business can be more powerful than placing an ad in the paper. You can post multiple times each day on social media, for FREE!
  • Boost your SEO rankings: Search Engine Optimization is something that often gets overlooked but is still a crucial part of social media. Search engines, such as Google, will consider a company’s social media presence as a factor in determining where that business will rank on a search results page. When writing posts on your business’ social media pages, consider ways that you can help your followers to spread your business. Perhaps you can do that by offering something for free or at a discount if the follower shares the post.
If you lack the time in your day to spend an appropriate amount of time on social media for your business, we would suggest signing up for a social media management platform. A place where you can link all your social media channels, schedule posts, and send posts out to all those channels all in one feel swoop!
